His skills as a leader, author, and lecturer within the field of plastic surgery have been acknowledged on local, national, and international levels. He has published many articles in national and international journals on a multitude of plastic surgery topics. He has participated in medical missions to give free plastic surgery care to children in third world countries. Dr. Heistein is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
