Dr. Lisa Guidry Pruett is originally from southern Louisiana. At an early age, she decided that she wanted to be a physician because of her love for science and learning. She spent summers working in her father’s internal medicine practice in Covington, Louisiana, and watched her mother attend medical school while she was in high school. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama in 1999, where she was the recipient of the Septima Cecilia Smith Award, which is given to the most outstanding graduating biology major.
